Diabetes Scotland Volunteer Opportunity

Diabetes Scotland are part of Diabetes UK, and our vision is for a world where diabetes can do no harm.  We’re leading the fight against the UK’s biggest and growing health crisis and it’s a fight that involves us all – sharing knowledge and taking on diabetes together. We are working to raise awareness, improve care and provide help, support and information for people with diabetes and their families across Scotland.

Our team at Diabetes Scotland has grown almost three-fold in the last six months, giving us the opportunity to support an even greater number of people living with and affected by diabetes.  For this reason, we are looking to recruit a number of new volunteers from across Scotland to join our existing list of established volunteers.

In the coming months we will be promoting a range of new volunteer opportunities and would be delighted if you could share and promote these for us.

We currently have an opportunity to volunteer with us and support our community outreach work with the Scottish Professional Football League Trust (SPFL Trust).

The SPFL Trust offers 13-week exercise programmes for people who are deemed at risk of developing type 2 diabetes.  These programmes are delivered by the SPFL Trust football coaches at the participating football clubs.

We are looking for volunteers to attend the final session and talk to the participants, using a provided script, about the seriousness of diabetes and to signpost the participants to the appropriate NHS pathways.
